Ronald Reagan Used Humor to Discuss Taxes

Whether you liked the Reagans or not, the passing of former First Lady Nancy Reagan marks the end of an era. Her husband Ronald Reagan was a great communicator, and he used humor to communicate more effectively.

So in honor of the Reagans, here are some of Ronald Reagan’s most famous quotes on taxes:

“The taxpayer — that's someone who works for the federal government but doesn't have to take a civil service exam.”

“We don't have a trillion-dollar debt because we haven't taxed enough; we have a trillion-dollar debt because we spend too much.”

“Republicans believe every day is the Fourth of July, but Democrats believe every day is April 15.”

“The government's view of the economy can be summed up in a few short phrases. If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.”

“There were always those who told us that taxes couldn't be cut until spending was reduced. Well, you know, we can lecture our children about extravagance until we run out of voice and breath. Or we can cure their extravagance by simply reducing their allowance.”

I realize that for many of you, the topic of taxes is not very funny. In fact, it's downright stressful. I get it. Yet if you want to put your tax problems behind you, and perhaps even laugh about it one day, give me a call.  800 659 0525
